Import into Apple Photos or a folder
Choose where FrameFerret saves your photos and videos.
- Apple Photos: Import directly into your library.
- Folders: Save original files in folders grouped by capture date.
- Separate import histories: Each destination keeps its own history. You can import files into a new destination even after importing them elsewhere.
Choose which days to import
Control how much of your camera’s memory card to import.
- Import everything, start from a date, or select individual days.
- Use date shortcuts for today, the last seven days, or the last 30 days.
- See the number of items for each day before you start.
- Enable a review before the first import of each session.
- Use later syncs to import new files within your saved selection.
Keep original photos and videos
FrameFerret supports RAW, JPEG, and HEIF photos, plus optional video imports.
- Combine a RAW file and its JPEG or HEIF companion as one photo in Apple Photos.
- Import paired files separately if you prefer.
- Save both original files separately when importing into a folder.
- Choose whether to include videos for each camera.
Your originals stay on the camera’s memory card. Folder imports preserve existing files.
Reduce duplicate imports
FrameFerret records completed imports and checks the destination for files that are already there.
- Skip files that FrameFerret already processed.
- Detect matching files in the destination, including files imported through another method.
- Import uncertain matches and mark them for review.
Control imports from the menu bar
Check your cameras and manage transfers without keeping an app window open.
- See camera availability and battery status when available.
- Start a sync for a camera.
- Follow the current file and overall import progress.
- Close the import window while transfers continue.
- Stop an import and keep the files already transferred.
- Enable notifications for completed syncs and errors.
Set up multiple cameras
Save more than one camera and give each camera a name.
- Scan your local network to find cameras.
- Use Deep Scan or enter camera details manually.
- Test a connection from Settings.
- Set video, file pairing, review, and shutdown options for each camera.
FrameFerret processes imports one at a time.
Review completed imports
The Activity window shows current transfers and previous imports.
- Check imported and skipped files, transferred data, warnings, and errors.
- Open Review This Import to choose which days to keep.
- Remove unwanted files from that import’s destination.
Import review leaves the originals on your camera.
Turn off the camera after an import
Enable automatic shutdown for compatible cameras.
FrameFerret checks whether the camera turned off. The completion message confirms shutdown or reminds you to turn off the camera.
