SpyAlert
Find network-connected cameras before they find you.
Checking into a hotel, vacation rental, or guest room? Before you unpack, scan the network. SpyAlert discovers cameras connected to the same Wi-Fi network you’re using, so you can decide whether a space is truly private.
SpyAlert scans for network-attached and Wi-Fi cameras, shows you what it finds in clear, human-readable terms, and gives you the details you need to talk with a host, manager, or owner if something doesn’t feel right.

What SpyAlert Does
SpyAlert focuses on the same place modern “hidden” cameras do: the network. When you join a Wi-Fi network, SpyAlert scans for devices that look and behave like cameras and then presents the results in an understandable way—without burying you in jargon.
SpyAlert can help you:
- Discover cameras connected to the same Wi-Fi network you’re using.
- Spot devices that may be streaming video, even if they have generic names.
- Start informed conversations with hosts, property managers, or security teams.
- Decide whether you’re comfortable staying in a particular room or property.
How It Works
- Connect to Wi-Fi. Join the hotel, rental, or office network as you normally would.
- Run a scan. SpyAlert analyzes devices on the network and looks for those that resemble cameras.
- Review results. For each candidate device, SpyAlert shows network details and any known identifiers.
- Take action. Use that information to ask questions, request clarification, or escalate if needed.
SpyAlert doesn’t make decisions for you. Instead, it gives you clear, actionable information about what’s on the network so you can decide what to do next.
Where to Use SpyAlert
- Hotels & motels – Quickly scan for unexpected cameras.
- Vacation rentals – Verify that cameras are only in disclosed, appropriate locations (like exterior doors).
- Guest rooms – Ensure your private room is actually private.
- Home & office networks – See how many cameras are watching doors, driveways, nurseries, or workspaces.
What SpyAlert Cannot Do
No tool can guarantee that every possible camera will be detected. SpyAlert works at the network level and has some natural limitations:
- Cameras that are completely offline or powered off will not appear in a network scan.
- Devices on a separate or hidden network segment may not be visible.
- Hard-wired cameras that never touch the IP network may not be discoverable.
SpyAlert is designed as a powerful first step: a practical way to see what’s talking on the network and whether any of those devices look like cameras.
