Introducing AirBear

AirBear is an ADS-B, APRS tracker app for Mac, iPhone, iPad. AirBear will work fully offline, including mapping and data sources (which you have to provide). A typical setup involves a small receiver attached to a Raspberry Pi.
Offline support is made possible with a custom TCP-over-Bluetooth (BLE) mechanism that integrates with a Raspberry Pi or other compatible device, allowing your Mac, iPhone or iPad to establish a direct connection to your receiver, not requiring internet access, wifi or even wall-socket power.
On a recent car trip, I placed a portable magnet-mount antenna on the roof, with the Raspberry-Pi powered with a portable USB battery, running AirBear on my Mac and an iPad.
With two receivers, you can receive both APRS and ADS-B simultaneously.
I need to figure out what the boat / shipping equivalent is to ADS-B. Or maybe boats also use ADS-B?
